At Morpeth First School, our welcoming and spacious nursery provides a friendly and nurturing environment for up to 39 children, where every child is supported to feel Treasured, Courageous and Empowered as well as happy, confident and ready to learn.
We offer morning nursery sessions from 8:45am – 11:45am, allowing families to access their government funded 15-hour nursery entitlement. For those who wish to attend full time, we also provide 30-hour places, running Monday to Friday from 8:45am – 3:00pm. Where required, we can accommodate flexible hybrid sessions allowing children to stay for additional afternoons when needed at a top up cost of £12 per session. Nursery children are also welcome to attend our schools wrap around childcare, where breakfast club sessions begin from 7.30am and after school sessions run until 6pm. Further information on our wrap around care can be found on the Wrapstars section of our website.

Our nursery children benefit from a broad, rich and exciting curriculum designed to inspire curiosity, independence and a love of learning. As part of the wider school community, children also take part in a range of enhanced experiences including weekly Forest School sessions, Commando Joe’s character-building activities, and PE lessons alongside the main school.
Learning in nursery is play-based and child-led, allowing children to explore, discover and develop at their own pace. Alongside this, children are gently introduced to early literacy and maths through phonics and number sessions, following the Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics programme and White Rose Maths. This ensures continuity and a smooth transition into our Reception class, supporting children as they progress through their early education. For further information please see our Early Years Curriculum.
Children enjoy daily healthy snacks of milk and fruit, and those staying for lunch can either bring a packed lunch or enjoy a school dinner provided by the school kitchen.
We are incredibly proud of our nursery, believing it is a place where children feel valued, supported and excited to learn, laying strong foundations for their future at Morpeth First School.
