Early Years families will be asked to complete ‘about me’ with information to help the children settle in.

At Wrap Stars, the first full term is all about settling in, getting to know the children and forming bonds with the staff. As a BSC and ASC, Ofsted states we do not have to complete any learning or assessment within Early Years; however, our key workers (staff) will complete activities with your children and give feedback to parents when required. We foster a caring ‘family’ feel experience.

The morning rush to leave the house is often the most stressful part of the day for parents of school children. Making sure your children are up, washed, dressed and have had a decent breakfast can be an uphill struggle, and if you’re trying to get to work yourself, it can be even more fraught.  Why not let us help!

As our school promotes healthy eating, children are offered a nutritious breakfast, featuring a choice of cereals, fruit, toast, or bagels, accompanied by milk or water. 

Children choose when to have their breakfast; staff are encouraged to have breakfast with the children. This is a very social environment where children can express themselves freely among many of their peers. 

Breakfast runs from 7:30 am, and the last call for hot breakfast is at 8:15 am. After this time, cereal, fruit, milk, and water remain available until 8:20am allowing plenty of time for an 8:30 am call to start packing away. This provides the children and staff with time to pack the room away, have story time (which helps with the transition from club to school), and line up to be in class by 8:45 am. 

If children don’t want the hustle and bustle of our Activity room, they can sit in our quiet room and lose themselves in a book, complete their homework with an adult to help if needed, to save doing it at home; or relax in our comfy area.

In our After School Club, children are collected from their classrooms, and upon arrival, we provide them with an afternoon snack, including a choice of fruit, as well as water (available at all times), juice, or milk. Children have snacks in a social environment where they can sit and eat food together. 

Children choose from a variety of vegetables, fruits, and a daily snack option, such as pittas and dips, sandwiches, wraps, fruit loaf or pasta, as well as other options, on a 3 week rotation. 

Parents/carers can provide a packed tea if required and would like your child to eat a meal at the after-school club rather than just a snack. We of course stick to our allergy policies and anything containing nuts is not allowed, as we are a nut free school. Home-packed teas should be sent into school in a named packed lunch bag. We will then store these in a separate, safe, refrigerated space.

After snack, children have the choice of outdoor play or indoor play.

Our aim is to help children develop their full potential through positive social, emotional, physical, and intellectual experiences as they take part in a variety of activities, including indoor and outdoor play.

Indoor Activities - These are things such as board games, jigsaws, drawing, colouring, painting, craft activities, a book area, chill-out zone, small world, role-play, coding, STEM activities, and much more. Sometimes we have adult-led crafts, but children are free to complete their own crafts and add their own flair to them. The friendly, nurturing atmosphere and stimulating activities in a safe environment enable the children to relax after a busy day of learning. 

Outdoor Activities - When the weather allows, we encourage the children to make the most of our fabulous outdoor space. Our outdoor activities support physical, social, and emotional development, imagination, and collaborative play in a safe and supervised space, with activities such as tennis, basketball, football, imaginative play, drawing, skipping, and more.

When collecting your child, carers come to the green gate (down the side of the school office near the community door) and ring the bell. A member of our team then greets them there.

If the club is operating outdoors, carers are asked to come to the main school gates, where a member of staff will greet them.

Children must be collected by 6pm.  If any child is picked up after 6 pm, there is a late pick-up fee, which is a minimum of £10 - up to a maximum of £50 depending on the length of time.

All fees must be paid before the end of each month. If your account is in arrears, you will be unable to book sessions for the following month.

Please note: All fees are subject to change.

Bookings can be made until the day before your booking date. In an emergency, bookings can be made via the school office on the day. If you need to cancel a booking, this can be done via the school office or by emailing wrapstars@morpethfirst.northumberland.sch.uk

Cancellations made after 3 pm the previous day will incur a charge for the 1st hour.

We accept payment via our SchoolComms system using a credit or debit card and we also accept Tax Free Child care vouchers. If you would like more information on using vouchers, please contact the school office or visit https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

Fees are payable via SchoolComms/Gateway.

Once payment has been made through your voucher provider, please email wrapstars@morpethfirst.northumberland.sch.uk  with:

• Your child’s name
• Amount paid
• Reference number (if provided)

The school office will then credit the payment to your School Gateway account.
